Last night I made two videos for a documentary Dawn is putting together.
Originally this blog post was supposed to be about the process of making the videos. I'm not sure that I'm going to be able to write about it coherently because there's a more urgent realization that needs to be acknowledged here.
While preparing for the videos I did what I'd normally do. I got a shower and freshened up then I went to look for my make up. We haven't quite unpacked everything yet. I went searching for it confident I knew what box it was in. It turns out the box had been moved so I sort of freaked out a little. I was disappointed while talking to Mister on the phone. I had given up on doing the videos since I knew the first one needed to be turned in by Monday and I wouldn't be able to make the videos while he was home. Mister decided to come home and help look for the lost make up since he needed to find something else for work. I kept telling him no to just stay at work but he insisted on coming back. He had forgotten his charger for his phone. After searching the apartment we came to the conclusion he must have left the charger at work and it was stolen because it's no where to be found. I guess finding the make up was the easy part out of the two. So after Mister located the make up I headed straight for the bathroom to get started.
Mister stayed for a few minutes then gave me kisses before leaving to go back to work. I finished up my eye shadow. I take the longest on my eyes. They're the most important part of make up, to me anyway. Then I moved on to foundation, blush, powder to set my work and mascara. Finally, I finished with my lips. I'm a bit out of practice so it took longer than usual. I've gone without wearing make up for a while now. Mister doesn't think I need it. He always tells me if I want to put on it on then I can but I don't need it. I don't want to disappoint him so I rarely wear it. What's funny about this is I know he won't be disappointed and it really doesn't matter either way, but my brain still processes it as it does matter.
Last night I realized how much I miss wearing make up. It was something I went to school for. It was something I wasn't caught dead without, well in the past. So, I've been thinking about what this means for me. I think I need to address this by wearing make up when I feel the need to and getting all dolled up for important occasions again. I think the babygirl in me enjoys make up. I think make up is an integral part of me being me. I also think Mister enjoys it when I do wear make up. Not because it makes me look any better to him but because it makes me feel better which I will go out on a limb and say makes him feel better ultimately. Also, make up is a big art form to me and anyone who knows me knows I love creating.
What does any of this have to do with being a babygirl? I'm not sure. This blog is the musings and writings of this babygirl and right now make up is all that is on this babygirl's mind. Well that and Mister, runescape and a new project idea I've been working on. I will say making the videos was fun all-in-all when I got over being so shy and I can't wait to make another one.
